the review: spicy fish taco bowls

I had high hopes for spicy fish taco bowls. High hopes. The recipe photographs were beautiful and colorful. The ingredients looked excellent. I’ve made some really good things from this particular blog. But not tonight. Major let down. I have no idea what I did wrong but this may have been the most bland dish that I’ve made in a long time. Possibly forever.

I will be the first to tell you that I am not a health-food person. My husband will be the first to tell you that I over-salt everything. These had no salt. None. And even salt would not have saved them. The concept was good. I think I would use it again. Grill some fish, toss it over some brown rice and veggies. That’s a winning combination. And the kids not only ate fish, but they ate cabbage (an add-on because we had it) and black beans. I am still trying to think of what added seasoning would make these a winner. I’ll let you know if I come up with it. In the meantime, season your fish with this recipe

P.S. I ran into a major pet peeve today with this recipe. I had pinned it quickly (as a repin, of course) without looking at the source closely. When I went to the source blog from my pin, it seemed a little strange. No about page, no archives, no search screen. I googled the recipe and sure enough, the recipe and photos seem to have been lifted from Pinch of Yum by the blog on which I had originally found the recipe. Not cool. Moral of the story? It's time to be more careful with my pinning and clean up my boards.
