off the menu: ballet treats
Théa is taking ballet. Yes, she is three. It’s not intense and she loves going so it’s all good. Her ballet school has two performances per year, one of which was this weekend. All parents are required to help out. Théa isn’t even in the performance because she is too young, but that didn’t change the parent volunteer requirement. I’m hoping that this is pay it forward. You know, when she’s a senior in high school and still dancing (HA!), we will no longer have to bake cookies for the bake sale.
Anyway, I mentioned that it has been a slightly busy weekend and I’ve referenced the cold medicine several times. So I had to bring two dozen individually wrapped cookies to the theater by 1:30 on Sunday. After church and various other commitments, I had two hours to get down to my house (30 minutes), to the grocery, make something, wrap it, and get back up to the theater (another 30 minutes). You know all those amazing desserts that I’ve pinned on Pinterest for just this occasion? I totally didn’t make them. I made Rice Krispie treats. I’m going for retro here. None of this fancy-my-cookie-is-better-than-yours-baking. At least Théa is too young to be embarrassed by her mom’s lame baking.
Oh, and I’ve been signed up for this for over a month. It’s not like it was a surprise or something. Remember that conversation about mother of the year? This is why I did not get nominated for 2012.
And PS. Washi is totally amazing in so many Pinterest worthy ways, but it does NOT work on wax paper.
