what is lagniappe?
A few weeks ago, I had the amazing experience of viewing a video of someone using my website for the first time via PEEK. If you are the user that reviewed my site, thank you. That was so helpful to see and you were so encouraging as to my content and style. You literally made my day.
Anyway, one of the things that I learned while watching this video is that my website does not really explain what “lagniappe” means. You can definitely look it up, but the Merriam-Webster definition is not exactly what it means to people from South Louisiana. It’s simple, really. Lagniappe means “a little something extra”.
And that is just what this section of my blog is – something extra. The main focus of my blog is to plan weekly dinners and provide reviews and tips that make dinner easier for you, the reader. But that is pretty one dimensional and it isn’t representative of life. The lagniappe section is where I talk about other things that go on in this crazy house – Project Life, baking, costume making, Instagram inspiration, thoughts on parenting, moments of gratitude. All the crazy stuff that makes life busy but also reminds me that I am living.
For the next two weeks, while we are on vacation with the kids, there won’t be any dinner reviews to read on the site. There will be plenty of lagniappe. Come hang out on this section of the blog for a bit. It will be a kick.
I’m working on a way to clarify this definition for new users. If you have any ideas, please, shout out. I’m all ears. You can comment below or send me an email at susiemakessupper@gmail.com. I can’t wait to hear from you.
