the review: my clean kitchen

Remember a couple of months ago when my kitchen looked like this?

Well guess what. Now, it looks like this.

It still looks a little dark here. That would be my mad photography skills, thank you.

And I love it.

We are still ironing out the kinks. Like yesterday, my husband asked me if I was ever going to order new knobs and pulls that I insisted I wanted for the cabinets. I'm working on it. I can't decide if the bronze that I want will look weird considering that every other piece of hardware in our house is brushed nickel. The painters put the old hardware back on (in this photo) but I'm not super excited about it.

Anyway, you can see that we went from two chairs to three at the island. That's because the island now has this handy-dandy bookshelf at the end.

This added an extra 11" of counter space to the island. You would not believe what a difference that makes. And less fighting over the chairs? Priceless.

And take a look at those floors! All that hemming and hawing (are those words?) about what wood and what stain...I love my floors. We went with 5" white oak with an oil rubbed stain. We even managed to find a great rug for the living room. I'll show you some photos once the coffee table gets a face lift.

But for now, back to the kitchen. The backsplash. Remember that? Ugh. Who paints a kitchen backsplash? Now it is tile. And easily cleaned. Plus, I have white countertops that clean up with almost no effort. I feel like I live in a magazine. Just kidding. I still have kids.

So there it is. My "new" kitchen. Don't tell my husband, but the bathroom is next.
