let’s talk about ORC week 6

It’s week 6 of the One Room Challenge . Reveal week. Before and after week. Cue the trumpets. I kind of want to spend the whole day checking out what everyone has done with their spaces. Let’s be honest. I probably will.

Except that I really need to spend my day finishing my own six week challenge project. That’s right, I’m officially raising the white flag. My perfect little family room is still packed in boxes waiting to be perfect. The floors in the family room needed one more coat of paint and are still drying. The floors in the rest of the house have not even been started (read: sanding hasn’t happened yet so we can’t move any furniture into the house). I wish that I could say everything is ready to go in the space as soon as those floors are done, but that wouldn’t be true. I’m still waiting to see how the furniture looks to decide on the right accessories, art, etc.

(P.S. that insane green room above? That's next to be torn out. White. Lots of white. With that pink rug. I'm going to have an awesome office.)

If you have been following along on at Calling It Home on Wednesdays, you’ll know that I’m not alone in not finishing. I’m sure I’m also not alone in being irrationally sad about not finishing. I mean, I accepted this challenge for myself, right? Right, but that doesn’t make it feel any better that I didn’t finish. I am still extremely motivated to get it done and I have promised myself that I will not move into the house with a half done room. The rest of the house is going to be a very slow work in progress. One room should at least be worth hanging out in (other than the bathroom, which I have to admit I am pretty excited to see finished). While I wait for the contractor’s team to finish the rest of the house, I am going to continue to work on my little family room and will share it here as soon as it is done.  I’ll put up a photo or two on Instagram when I get it done. I hope you will join me there.

Thanks so much for following along. This has been a fantastic challenge. I think you’ll probably be seeing me again in April (new round starts April 7!!). By that time, I may get to the actual living room of the house. For now, though, go check out all the amazing work the nearly 200 other participants in this fall’s One Room Challenge have turned out. And be sure to thank Linda of Calling It Home for creating such an awesome challenge.
