the week in review: november 3

One of the challenges of meal planning in this house is that sometimes there are a lot of us and other times there are only a few. Last week, I planned for eight people, but with activities and overnights at the grandparents and social engagements and vegetarianism, we had a ton of leftovers. I used to plan for at least one night of leftovers and I think it is time to do that again. We did manage to make three of our planned meals. It was a wonky week.

We did not have curry or pasta this week, nor did we get into white bean soup (which I am really wanting to make). Last night, we had dinner out with three of the grandparents. Tonight, we will be glued to the television watching the LSU game. I think we will have that pasta with chicken sausage and garden sauce during the game.

I did get some good requests and suggestions for menu options this week. Homemade pizza, anyone? I think I will save that particular one for a night when we have a lot of people. Possibly the night before Thanksgiving.

Oh. Thanksgiving. Are you ready? We will be hosting dinner for 21. My husband has put himself in charge of meal planning, which we will be doing tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know what we come up with. Does anyone else find it hard to balance mixed family traditions? If it were up to me, we would eat lasagna for Thanksgiving. In fact, I think we will start with that.
