the review: asian spaghetti with chicken meatballs

IMG_3404.JPG

After Sunday night’s stellar dinner, this meal was just ho-hum. The three reviews on BHG.com next to the recipe combined for a 3.5 out of 5 stars and I would say this is accurate (or maybe a little nice). With ingredients like ginger, garlic, cilantro, and sesame oil in the chicken meatballs, I was expecting a bite full of flavor. But it was just chicken. And noodles. Not much to report.

Oddly enough, I thought getting two three-year-olds to eat this dinner would be a cinch. I mean, chicken and noodles? What’s not to like? It was like pulling teeth. It took Gus 20 minutes to eat one meatball. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

This recipe is easy and colorful though. And I did forget the soy sauce in the meatballs, which I am sure contributed to their blandness. Siracha was an excellent addition. Would I make it again? Maybe once more to try the meatballs with the soy sauce. But I don’t know. There sure are a lot of amazing looking recipes to try-out on the internet….
