the menu: week of september 21

Whoa! What's this? A menu post? Go ahead, get yourself off the floor. I'll wait.

Is anyone else out there feeling a bit crazy getting back in the routine? I mean, honestly. I can barely get it together in the morning. I can’t remember to have the kids practice violin (and they only have to practice for four minutes). I must check the calendar 40 times a day because I can’t remember where each of my older kids are after school or who has what car. You want me to cook dinner? Ha!

Since my blogging friend Asia is sending people my way with a lovely nomination for a Liebster Award (I didn't know what it is either), I guess it is high time I post something. More on the award thing later. Oh and please do check out the awesome peonies that Asia made out of paper and her cricut. I'm dying.

Last week, my husband planned the menu. Since he doesn’t yet have my log-in information, he couldn’t guest post. Such a shame. Truth be told, we only made two of the recipes we had planned – enchiladas (excellent and easy) and lasagna (pretty tasty and not cooked by me). This week? We are finally back to full strength after three weeks of camping trips, trips to San Francisco (our 9th grader – really?), a couple day stay in the hospital (our 12th grader), and a fishing trip (our ship captain). It’s time to put away the take out menus and get cooking. Make it easy.

Monday. Roasted Potatoes, Grilled Chicken, and Broccoli

Tuesday. Slow Cooker Chili

Wednesday. Mom/Martha/Gran’s Birthday! Birthday Girl’s choice (with the most amazing Italian Cream Cake)

Thursday. Grilled Fish and Pasta with Zucchini and Mint

Friday. Braised Chicken with Olives and Capers and Cauliflower (probably from the new issue of Sweet Paul)

Oh, and tonight is homecoming, so we will all be eating lovely hot dogs at the game. Saturday? Fend for yourselves, people.
